G & V Shalom Climbing Team Rescues Cat
Cat rescue ignites romance for anxious couple

Published Saturday, January 31, 2009

Fort Lauderdale, FL--An intrepid kitten named "Zuzu" got in over her head when a collie's bark sent her skyward. Once "safe" at 40 feet, she froze. That's when her owner, Jade, called G & V Shalom Tree Care to come to the rescue.

While the team's energetic climber, Al, saddled up and placed the climbing line, Van recruited Jade, plus her sweetheart, plus a bystander to hold the safety net. Not for Al--he's climbing on "Velocity" line (8,000 lb. strength) along with a steel core lanyard--but for the occassional flighty cat we call "jumpers."

Zuzu the kitten safe & sound after tree rescue at 40 ft.

Turns out Zuzu decided to keep all nine lives and let Al pick her up with nary an unsheathed claw. When he got her in the green backpack, he let out a yell, "The cat's in the bag!"--to which the ecstatic couple responded with a kiss straight out of a romance novel.

Jade writes:
I just want to thank you again for Zuzu's rescue.  I really don't know what I would have done without you guys!  It was a saturday afternoon, the fire department couldn't help, and no one else was answering the phone or had a ladder that could reach that high.  The park closes at dusk and it gets dark early now, and I couldn't have left her there. You guys came in 40 minutes, and it was definitely worth the $75.00 for you to come out with all your equipment.
