Giannina Hutchinson
An accomplished sculptress and stained glass artist, Giannina Hutchinson is Creative Word's business advisor and specialty artist.
Her award-winning work is notable for its attention to fine detail and expressive style, particularly the integration of European, Spanish, and pre-Colombian indigenous influences.
Professional Background
Mrs. Hutchinson studied at the College of Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Lima, Perú in a six-year Fine Arts Program.
She graduated with honors in sculpture, with additional work in vitral art, graphic design, and photography. The panel of judges for the thesis defense included Adolfo Winternitz, Anna Maccagno, Julia Navarrete, Cesar Campos, Susana Rosello and Johanna Hamann, renowned artists who have exhibited internationally. Her two theses included:
1. Written thesis: the result of two years of research, titled "The Importance of the Presence of Art in the Chavín de Huantar Culture." This is the oldest Pre-Columbian culture in Perú, dating back to 1500 B.C. The thesis consists of 151 pages including photos and sketches, plus an ornate leather cover carved by the artist.
2. Practical thesis: Sculpture. Consisted of five large sculptures inspired by research into the magnificent heritage of Pre-Columbian art. These sculptures were created using a variety of techniques and materials, among them metal, wood, cement and stone.
Recent Work
Giannina has completed post-graduate work in the United States and has expanded her portfolio of work to include animation, stained glass, and mixed media.
Giannina considers her most important work molding Yolanda Shalom Hutchinson Bizerra, the daughter of Van & Giannina, into a living work of art.
